The cultural institution The House of Arts which contents three different galleries: Dům umění města Brna, Dům pánů z Kunštátu, and G99 (This last two situated in the same building) ; is semi-budgetary organisation of the Statutory City of Brno.
Since World War II it has been strictly oriented on progressive contemporary art and 20th century art. It is active in international, national and local contexts.
The modern building on Malinovského Square, unique from the architectural point of view, features established artists from the Czech or international scene. The firt exhibiton I saw there taking place was from the artist Tomáš Ruller, who is as well an actual teacher in the University of Fine Arts in Brno.
The exhibition halls in the House of the Lords of Kunštát, a Renaissance palace in the very centre of the city, are intended for progressive manifestations of the youngest art.
In the first floor, the gallery G99 focusing exclusively on up-to-date activities of the youngest generation of artists, shown now the work of the composer and sound artist Natalia Dominguez Rangel, from Bogota.
In the second floor, The House of the Lords of Kunštát: City Interventions; super interesting iniciative that presents architectural projects in the city of Brno which have not been commissioned. Display all the received proposals in the form of drawings, visualisations, descriptions, etc., in different rendering from professional architects via collages to intuitive sketches by amateurs.
It houses also the Gallery G99, focusing exclusively on up-to-date activities of the youngest generation of artists.
